The Opportunity
This is a unique opportunity to join a finance function at a critical growth stage, working with a lean, high-performing accounting team in a dynamic startup environment. As Controller, you'll be reporting directly to the CFO, responsible for all aspects of financial management and reporting. This role requires someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment and can wear multiple hats while building scalable financial processes. We're looking for a "player-coach" and someone looking to take the next step in their career.

What You’ll Do

Accounting Responsibilities
  • Manage month-end close process
  • Prepare and review US GAAP financial statements and management reports
  • Ensure compliance with US federal and state tax regulations and filings
  • Coordinate annual audit with external auditors
  • Optimize existing accounting systems and evaluate new solutions as needed
Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A) Responsibilities
  • Serve as the primary financial business partner to CFO and senior leadership team
  • Support CFO in board reporting, investor relations and fundraising
  • Maintain executive dashboards and KPI reporting for operational metrics
  • Drive annual budgeting and quarterly business unit reviews
  • Provide financial analysis for pricing decisions and contract negotiations
Qualifications
  • CPA designation minimum 4+ years of progressive experience in the field or related field
  • 2-3 years of controller experience, preferably in high-growth companies reporting on US GAAP
  • Strong FP&A background with experience in budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis. Familiarity with SaaS metrics and recurring revenue models
  • Experience preparing consolidated financial reports and supporting parent company reporting
  • Advanced Excel/Google Sheets and financial modeling
  • Experience with modern accounting software (NetSuite, QuickBooks Enterprise, or similar)

  • Entrepreneurial mindset with ability to work with limited resources
  • Excellent communication skills for cross-functional collaboration
  • Ability to mentor and develop junior team members

The expected salary for this position is $175k - $200k CAD and is eligible for a discretionary bonus and equity. We will consider your skills, experience, and location when determining your pay.
